About – Mr. Smyth

Mr. Smyth is a creative, talented, and fun-loving band that was born out of the musical wasteland created by the pandemic of 2020. A need-to-play and a jam session were all it took to realize something special was created. Mr. Smyth was born.

Mr. Smyth covers a mix of eclectic blues rock with soulful vocal harmonies. A vocally driven, instrumentally suburb band with diverse musical influences is what makes up the unique Mr. Smyth sound.

Their showmanship and stage presence draws the crowd into the musical experience as few bands can. They love playing together and it’s infectious. No one has more fun at a Mr. Smyth show than the band. This blues "supergroup" is made up of some of the best blues artists in Northern Colorado:

Kent Obermann

Kent has been creating exciting music experiences in Northern Colorado for decades. He plays with Blues Dogs, Consortium, and serves as the fearless leader to Mr Smyth. Herding musical cats is his super power.

Mehgan Castor

Mehgan brings passion into every song she sings. You can see her pouring out her heart with the Blues Dogs or right here with Mr Smyth.

Andy Tatro

Andy is the front man of Three Shots, a recent contender at the IBC. His roadhouse blues style gives the band gritty soul with his vocals and guitar stylings.

Ricky Gary

The rhythm master on drums from the Robert Wilson Blues Band and Whiskey Pickles. That 'crazy drummer guy' is a delight to your ears and eyes.

Alan Sparks

Alan is bass player to all. Really. He's in and has subbed for most bands in Northern Colorado. He's just that good.

David "Doc" Dougherty
